Optometrist required in Guyana
Caribbean Council for the Blind – Eye Care Guyana is a non-governmental organisation which works with public hospitals assisting less wealthy members of society. With the aim of reducing preventable blindness and creating opportunities for people who have become blind CCB works to promote eye care and realise the aims of the vision 20/20 objectives.
CCB- Eye Care Guyana has been operating a multiple level training programme in Guyana for six years. The programme, which trains optical professionals, is in partnership with Ministry of Health and the University of Guyana.
Caribbean Council for the Blind CCB – Eye Care Guyana seek to recruit an Optometrist to work within the training programme. The successful applicant will work in Guyana teaching on the Degree in Optometry programme at the University of Guyana. Work will involve clinical supervision, class teaching and lecturing BSc Degree students and students at the Refractionist level.
The successful candidate will be a qualified, registered optometrist with at least a BSc in Optometry and experience working in this field. Good communication skills, team work and the ability to take initiative to develop the programme are critical. The optometrist will be expected to work at the University and in public hospitals across Guyana.
