V2020 Activities – The Caribbean 2000 – 2010
Following the launch of V2020: The Right to Sight by WHO, (and building on the objectives of the National Prevention of Blindness Committees which were established in the 90’s) CCB-Eye Care Caribbean and SightSavers International, joined with the following International Organizations to launch the initiative across the Caribbean, focusing on the three (3) areas on which the Program is based: Disease Control, Human Resource Development and Infrastructure Development.
- Participants in the launch included:
Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO);
Christoffel-Blinden Mission (CBM) – an International NGO with Headquarters in Germany;
ORBIS International – A US-based INGO; and
The Ophthalmological Society of the West Indies (OSWI);
- The launch served as a springboard for the following activities coordinated or implemented by CCB-Eye Care Caribbean (with financial and technical support from Sightsavers; PAHO, ICEE and other National, Regional and International Partners:
